Who is BTELL?

Tell Business trading as BTELL produces and manages conferences, seminars and training events for a business audience. Our company has offices in Australia and Singapore and holds events in many cities in the Asia Pacific region. The BTELL Privacy Policy covers all related Tell Business activities as well as what information may be collected via our Web site, www.btell.com.

Do you provide visitors with anonymous access to your website?

You can access our Web site and browse most sections of our Web site without disclosing your personal data. Certain sections, such as the Delegate Bulletin Board, provide restricted access. This section shall require you to enter your user name and password in order to continue further into the section.

What services and links are provided to me via your Web site?

Currently, our Web site does not enable you to communicate with other visitors or to post information to be accessed by others. It only enables you to send emails to BTELL either to subscribe to our mailing list, ask for further information or to find out more about an event or our speakers.

In the near future, this Web site will enable you to communicate with other visitors or post information within a bulletin board setting or participate in live question and answer sessions with speakers or trainers. When you do so, you must remember that other visitors may collect your data and you are responsible for the information that you divulge.

Our Web site does not currently include links to third party Web service providers.

Do you collect information automatically?

We do not automatically log personal data gathered from the Web site nor do we link information automatically logged by other means with personal data about specific individuals. We do not use cookies to store personal data nor do we link non-personal information stored in cookies with personal data about specific individuals.

What sort of data do you collect on me? What do you use it for and have you told me about it?

We collect the personal data that you may volunteer while using our services or in your communication with us. We may also collect information about you from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organisations.

Any information that we hold on you is accessible to you for an administrative fee of AU$40.00. There are two categories of persons we collect information from:

  • Category 1 : Information about persons who we believe would be interested in our events, past present or future.
  • Category 2 : Information about persons who want, are given or sold access to our events, whether to participate in an in-person setting or online.

Any personal information that we may collect from Category 1 is used for the purpose of marketing our events and gathering research into appropriate topics for current or future seminars or training events. Any personal information that we may collect from Category 2 is used for the purpose of creating the user profile necessary to allow password protected access to the archives and for customer relations management in order to give them a good experience at our events, mail or forward important information regarding the event and gather feedback.

The secondary purpose of collecting their personal information is to gather evaluation of our events and improve on future courses that they would like to attend. Some events may be sponsored. If so, then limited personal information regarding you may be given. This is usually your name, designation and company. Contact details and other information is not forwarded and if requested from sponsors, are only forwarded on with your consent.

We tell you that we collect data about you when you register for an event. We ask you to give us your details so that we can forward more information about our services or events when we contact you. We also collect payment details from you when you register to attend an event. For example, this would cover what event you are intending to participate in, how many people would be attending, what the purchase price payable is, your method of payment (including bank cheque, direct debit account details or credit card numbers.)Information about you can also be identified through internal identifiers eg invoices. BTELL does not adopt as its identifier, an identifier that has been publicly assigned to it.

What about children?

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children nor take specific steps to protect the privacy of children who disclose their personal data to us. As such, we do not provide information about our personal data practices in relation to children on our home page. Whilst we shall make every reasonable effort to ensure that children's privacy and other rights are not compromised, it is ultimately the responsibility of parents to monitor their children's Internet usage.

Do I have a choice about your disclosure of my personal information?

We provide a limited delegate list at our events for your information only. This enables other delegates to know who he other attendees are. We obtain your consent to do this when we first contact you as a delegate. Chairpersons at events or speakers/trainers are also given a delegate list to enable them to know more about their audience and to tailor their content more appropriately. We also get your consent to do this when we contact you during registration. We do not disclose your personal data to other organisations.

Is my personal information kept confidential and do you have a security policy on such information?

We do not give visitors to our Web site the option of using a secure transmission method to send us their personal data. We have implemented security policies, rules and technical measures to protect the personal data that we have under our control from:

  • unauthorised access
  • improper use or disclosure
  • unauthorised modification
  • unlawful destruction or accidental loss

All our employees and data processors, who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our visitors' personal data. Not every employee has access to your personal information. Only employees whose function it is, is to store, update or use the personal information for customer relations, event management or marketing purposes has access to your personal information. The persons who have access would be penalised for improper use or disclosure, unauthorized modification or unlawful destruction or accidental loss. Secure back ups of all information gathered is conducted on a weekly basis.

We ensure that your personal data will not be disclosed to State institutions and authorities except if required by law or other regulation.

Where the information we hold on you is no longer needed, this information is destroyed or de-identified. All information regarding payment and payment methods are kept confidential and are secured.

Can I gain access to the personal data that you may hold about me?

You can ask us at any time as to whether we hold any personal information on you and whether you may access this information. We reserve the right to hold this information provided we are able to forward a reasonable explanation for doing so.

You may make this request, by :

Provided that we have not reserved the right to hold this information, we shall endeavour to provide you with a readable copy of the personal data which we keep about you within ten (10) working days. We may be at liberty to deny access to your personal information where revealing the same would entail revelation of potentially evaluative information in connection with commercially sensitive decision making or decisions. In this case, we may give you an explanation for the commercially sensitive decision instead of direct access to the information.

We may, before forwarding this information, require proof of your identity. This information may be provided at an administrative fee of AU$40.00. You may challenge the data that we hold about you and, where appropriate, you may have the data rectified, amended or deleted.

How compliant are you with current legislation?

BTELL's Privacy Policy is compliant with the Privacy Act 1974 (Australia) and the Privacy (Amendment) Act 2001 (Australia) and the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) contained referred to in the said Amendment Act. In order to demonstrate that our privacy policy is in accordance with the current legislation, we shall voluntarily commit ourselves to a self assessment procedure conducted annually or when amendments occur in the legislation.

Is the information held about me kept up to date?

As far as possibly and reasonable, all the information we hold on you is accurate, kept up to date and is current as at the date of the event registration and thereafter.
